Cami de Cavalls is a path which is approximately 220 kilometres in length and encircles the whole island. The trail which is currently protected by a special plan allows access and the opportunity to travel around parts of the Menorcan coast on foot, horse back or bicycle. Without a doubt this is a route that allows one to capture the true essence of the island.
The island has a large variety of enclaves to delight rambling enthusiasts (virgin beaches, gorges, woods, caves), as well as many paths and country lanes. Another good way to combine tourism and sport is cycling and Menorca has the ideal conditions for this, being a fairly flat island with and extensive network of roads and lanes that are perfect for enjoying the scenery.
There are different hypotheses as to the origin of the route some believe that is was already in existence in the XIV centaury and that it could be related in a certain way to a military defence system designed by the Catalans.
